So you want to buy a mountain bike huh? Seems easy enough. Until you type Mountain Bikes into your browser and see a million different options. Different sizes, materials and especially different prices. Where do you begin?
Well, here at Valid Bikes we decided to write up a “Choose a Bike Guide.” Yes, let’s make it easy..
Firstly, ask yourself a few questions:
-Important! Where you ride will determine the type of mountain bike you’ll need.
Example: Ok, so you got some dirt trails down the street from your cul-de-sac and you want to go exploring. After hitting the trails, you hop back on the pavement and cruise down to the local watering hole to re-hydrate. Boom, two different types of terrain.
-Important! Bikes are expensive. Having a budget in mind before you start looking is a wise decision. Expensive bikes are beautiful and efficient. But, are all those bells and whistles necessary when you only ride it twice a month? Inexpensive bikes are readily available. But, cheap introduces problems, having your bike falling apart on the trail can be catastrophic.
-Important! Bikes will last for years. Buying the perfect bike will pay dividends. Imagine you purchased the wrong bike, now you’re selling it for a bargain and haggling with buyers on craigslist.
The Bike Frame is what you need to look at when buying a bike. The frame is your foundation. Later down the road you can swap out your seat, tires, pedals.
